Camellias from the garden....

GOLD GLASS WITH CAMELLIAS
PINK CAMELLIA FLOWER

Bowls of impossible pinkness... the brightest colour that nature can conjure up, it seems...

These are camellia flowers freshly picked from the garden.... One of the simplest of all flowers... and yet one of the loveliest.

PIE DISH OF CAMELLIAS

With their short stems not wanting to play the vase game, I tucked them into a simple white pie dish and floated a few scented geranium leaves amongst them.

But I could't resist cutting a little branch to sit in a golden glass nearby... because the dark green leaves are as elegant as the flowers.

With their simple beauty, it's no wonder that Coco Chanel favoured them above all other flowers.

Although she preferred the white ones, I quite adore them in any colour... from this shocking Schiaparelli pink to the palest blush.

And the fun of having a new garden means I haven't the faintest idea which colour any of the myriad of camellia bushes will open up next.

I'll just have to wait and see...
