Do you remember that I mentioned that my niece was planning an old-fashioned wedding, and was looking for ideas on how to incorporate all her favourite elements... of hydrangeas (from her grandmother's garden, where she had spent her teenage years)... of sparkles, and of soft colours which evoked a gentle glamour?

Well, I put together a few moodboards for her...and she took it away from there... creating one of the most beautiful & romantic weddings I have been to for quite a while...

because if ever there were a fairytale ending, this was it...

What love can do...

These were the mood boards used as a starting point....

because in the beginning she felt a little overwhelmed with too many choices...

But this was soon narrowed down to honing in on the unassuming hydrangea flower, with it's simple charm, and which became a symbol of the timelessly classical elegant simplicity she wanted to create...

Her gown was sparkles and sequins....very classical... but it was the cutaway detail on the back, framed with lace, which elicited "oohs" and "aahs", and gave a slightly edgey feel to such a tailored gown.

The bridesmaids gowns were of midnight navy blue, in swishing silk, sweeping the floor... a timeless cut made even more elegant by the gloriously richly dark blue of the lustrous fabric....

happy grandparents

And those grandparents, who had cared for her during her teenage years... were almost as radiantly happy as the bride herself...

For she was marrying the man whom we had always hoped she would...

the man who made her eyes sparkle when she spoke of him...

the man who seems to belong in our family, just as much as she does in his...

And my very favourite part...the kiss...that very first kiss as husband and wife... the one which moves all the guests to a little teardrop themselves, as we remember, for that precious fleeting moment in our busy world...that love really does make most things better...
