Groovy 60s Caulfield House :: Project Update :: Green Tiles are Go!
There are some exciting developments happening at the
Groovy 1960s House renovation and extension.
I popped in to have a look at progress today,
and this is what the boys have been busy installing...emerald green glass mosaic tiles to the bathrooms...
We have gone with a contrast dark grout, to really have some drama with the play of tile shapes.
There's a new colour scheme to the exterior, lots of white and a warm dove grey, which brings a modern touch to it, but still references the original very 1960s design. (See the frameless butt join corner window? Lovely detail!)
We have worked little touches of brass into the design... like here, where there are brass corner edges to the tile recess.
The house has been extended, which you can see in the new wing to the right in this image, but we found similar bricks and were able to repeat similar details so it's almost impossible to tell what's old and what's new.
So in love with these handles, which have been used in the joinery to the kitchen, bathrooms and cupboard doors throughout. Made in New York, we imported them because they look like they just belong in the era of this house's origins.
The beginnings of the joinery installation. You can also see part of the new linoleum floor which has been installed. I love this product, and specify it often because it is soft underfoot, very forgiving for busy families (especially with young children), comes in a huge range of colours and always looks fabulous.
You can better see the new wing here: original house on the left/ new wing on the right.
The 1960s were such a design-rich decade for fashion and for architecture.
So much wonderful inspiration.
The renovations are almost done - and soon the clients will have themselves
